Dr. Hilary Nieberg Baskin has been providing exceptional orthodontic care to her patients for nearly 20 years. She truly loves making people smile! Her professional yet friendly and fun personality are sure to make any patient comfortable.
Raised in a family with her father as her orthodontist, she was exposed to her dental calling at an early age; pictures of her with her baby teeth are even in orthodontic textbooks! As the mother of two teenage boys, Jonah and Gabe, she also understands the trials and tribulations of motivating our patients to wear elastics and retainers from a parent’s perspective!
Dr. Baskin obtained her undergraduate degree at Colorado College and attended the University of Nebraska for her dental school education. She completed her general practice residency at the Denver VA Medical Center and was selected to attended Yeshiva University’s Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Montefiore Medical Center in New York to obtain her orthodontic certificate. Her impressive research on orthodontic X-ray analysis was published soon after. She was honored by the university with the Davidson Award, a prestigious award given to the one outstanding dental graduate student who exhibits clinical proficiency, clarity of thought, and concern for patients’ welfare. Dr. Baskin started her orthodontic career in Connecticut in 1993, and she and her family moved back to Colorado in 1997 where she practiced orthodontics for a decade before founding All About Braces in 2007 with Dr. Mershon, who started his dental career as her assistant!
To stay up to date with the latest advances in orthodontics, Dr. Baskin maintains memberships in numerous professional organizations. She is a member of the American Dental Association, American Association of Orthodontists, World Federation of Orthodontists, Colorado Dental Association, Metropolitan Denver Dental Society, and Rocky Mountain Society of Orthodontists. She recently has been tapped by the Rocky Mountain Society of Orthodontists to lobby in Washington D.C. on behalf of her patients! Dr. Baskin’s research has been published in the Journal of Clinical Orthodontics, and she has been interviewed for newspaper and TV. She has lectured to students from dental to elementary school — sometimes even donning her tooth fairy wings!
With Dr. Baskin as a role model, the All About Braces staff donates their time and services to the Ronald McDonald House, dental education fairs, the Colorado Foundation of Dentistry for the Handicapped, and Give Kids a Smile program. Dr. Baskin is on the board of Hadassah, an organization that concentrates on international health care and education. She was awarded their national award for young leadership. She recently received the Gini Award, given to the practitioner of the year from the not-for-profit agency Smiles Changes Lives, which provides pro bono orthodontics to underprivileged children. Dr. Baskin sits on the agency’s national board.
She has also led the practice to begin working with the Colorado Orthodontic Foundation, a local organization that also looks to coordinate the delivery of pro bono orthodontics to underprivileged children. Pursuing her passion for reading, she volunteers in the Denver Public Schools as a literacy tutor. Her energetic family trains puppies for Guide Dogs for the Blind ... so don’t be too surprised if you see a puppy in the practice!
Raised in New York and Nebraska, Dr. Baskin first visited Colorado in high school and fell in love with this gorgeous state. She and her husband Eliot, a rabbi, raise their family with blessings and braces. When not in the office, she enjoys traveling, skiing, swimming, hiking, camping, reading, and cooking sumptuous meals that keep her family smiling! From treating thousands of patients from grandparents to kids, Dr. Baskin has truly embraced Colorado!
