Orthodontic Retention

Your #1 Metro Denver, CO Orthodontist

The day your braces come off is an exciting one … but keep in mind, your treatment isn’t over yet! Once we remove your braces, we’ll begin the retention stage of your treatment. Although your teeth have shifted to a new position, they aren’t yet “settled” there — and without proper retention, they could move back to their original location, and erase all your hard work!

The retention phase lasts at least 12 months and often goes longer, but the amount of time you’ll need to leave your retainer in decreases as treatment goes on. Remember to remove the retainer before brushing, and brush it before placing it back in your mouth.
