Keeping Your Teeth Straigh After Braces
At All About Braces and Colorado Orthodontics, we’re passionate about providing the highest quality of orthodontic care we can to patients in a fun, friendly environment. Maybe that’s why Colorado Parent Magazine ranked us the #1 Orthodontist in Colorado!
Our doctors and highly trained team of orthodontic specialists will work with you to design a treatment plan that perfectly suits your orthodontic needs, and all on your schedule. We utilize only the latest in cutting-edge orthodontic technology to ensure that every patient’s treatment is as fast, safe, and effective as possible.
The day your braces come off is an exciting one ... but keep in mind, your treatment isn’t over yet! Once we remove your braces, we’ll begin the retention stage of your treatment. Although your teeth have shifted to a new position, they aren’t yet “settled” there — and without proper retention, they could move back to their original location, and erase all of your hard work!
The retention phase lasts at least 12 months and often goes longer, but the amount of time you’ll need to leave your retainer in decreases as treatment goes on. Remember to remove your retainer before brushing, and brush it before placing it back in your mouth.
Here’s a helpful video from the American Association of Orthodontics with some helpful information about retainers:
